Mark Magnier

Mark Magnier is based in the Wall Street Journal’s Beijing bureau, where he covers China’s economy and its broader implications for the world and the Middle Kingdom’s growing global ambitions. Before joining the Journal in early 2014, he was bureau chief in New Delhi, Beijing, and Tokyo for the Los Angeles Times. In addition, he’s done extensive crisis reporting, camping out under Saddam Hussein’s bridges, covering suicide bombings in Israel, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, suffering through bad soju in North Korea, and sleeping in abandoned nunneries in East Timor.
