Super Sad True Love Story
Gary Shteyngart’s wickedly funny Super Sad True Love Story is a dystopian love story set in the not-too-distant future. Books are “printed, media bound artifacts,” everyone is glued to their information spewing “apparat” and 39-year old balding Lenny Abramov is hopelessly in love with 24-year old fickle Eunice Park. While Lenny and Eunice grapple with love, the US spirals into a credit crisis, riots break out in New York and the country waits for its Chinese creditor to foreclose. Shteyngart chats with The Economist‘s Gady Epstein about his eerily prescient novel, unlikely love stories and the value of being a real human being.
